Sunglass Hut or Sunglasses Factory?

Perception is in the eye of the beholder….

“Sunglasses for me can make or break an outfit. How many times have you seen a celebrity wearing a drab outfit saved by a fabulous pair of sunglasses and a killer handbag? The value of sunglasses should never be underestimated and relegated to being just an accessory! Oh and did I mention they can also protect you eyes!

In preparing my summer wardrobe this year I pulled out all my sunglasses to see which ones needed to retire and if there was a gap in my looks.  I counted 12 pairs! Is this normal? How many sunnies do you own? It sadly made me think about how much would I actually spend on sunglasses in my lifetime? I would buy probably 2 pairs a year, as they are nowhere near as expensive in Europe as they are back in Australia. Recent research in the UK suggests that an “average British female spends over £2,200 on sunglasses in a lifetime, owning as many as 42 pairs of shades“. 2OPINIONATED apologies for the belated announcement of our “Pick a Box” poll. The clear winner, with 55% of the votes, was Cartier. It was definitely the most favoured box to go under Christmas tree for 2011, followed by Hermes and Tiffany & Co. Surprisingly, Gucci or Louis Vuitton did not receive any votes! Is that because we all wanted jewelry for Xmas?

Cartier still manages to maintain an element of exclusivity in an era where luxury has become commonplace. We’re not sure of if it’s because Cartier never goes on sale, or if it’s because they control their distribution by only selling through their boutiques. Cartier manages to tell a consistent story across all it’s brands marketing channels, such as advertising, PR, editorial, digital marketing and in-store experience.

Selling Short the Chanel Experience

Karl Lagerfeld’s love of the photo booths continues…

‘In May  2011 at the  amfAR Gala Karl Lagerfeld presented a series of black and white «Photo-booth» portraits of celebrities which was followed by a Chanel’s Fall 2011-2012 Advertising Campaign – “Cocomaton” . The campaign was shot by Karl Lagerfeld, featured Freja Beha Erichsen, and famously styled by Carine Roitfeld. I am curious to know if the Andy Warhol Photo booth pictures published posthumously in 1989 by the Robert Miller Gallery of New York and Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain were an inspiration point for these images’.- Olya Bell

‘I am usually a very decisive shopper however there is the rare occasion where I am just not sure. I would love a second opinion or at times I am trying to find something and I dont know who has made it or where to buy it this season. For example at the moment I trying to locate the perfect knee high or over the knee black boot. There were a pair that I found last year at Bergdorf Goodman in New York that I didn’t buy and still regret it. I had just made more than several investment purchases and couldn’t justify the guilt.
