TOD’S Needs Therapy

Tod’s gets back on the couch again….

“The excitement of Anne Hathaway lounging on the red sports cars seems long forgotten with the release of the Tod’s Spring 2012 ad campaign, photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. The print advertisements seem world apart visually, the colour and excitement have all but disappeared. All that is left if Anne Hathaway, clutching a clutch, on the couch. We all need a bit of therapy at certain times in our life but I would prefer that Tod’s encourage me to do some retail therapy and not make me look at another couch! Doesn’t a “Tod’s woman” have more to do in her life than to always be seen reclining. ” – Olya Bell.

The Cartier Mystique

The Power of the Panther

2OPINIONATED apologies for the belated announcement of our “Pick a Box” poll. The clear winner, with 55% of the votes, was Cartier. It was definitely the most favoured box to go under Christmas tree for 2011, followed by Hermes and Tiffany & Co. Surprisingly, Gucci or Louis Vuitton did not receive any votes! Is that because we all wanted jewelry for Xmas?

Cartier still manages to maintain an element of exclusivity in an era where luxury has become commonplace. We’re not sure of if it’s because Cartier never goes on sale, or if it’s because they control their distribution by only selling through their boutiques. Cartier manages to tell a consistent story across all it’s brands marketing channels, such as advertising, PR, editorial, digital marketing and in-store experience.

The Holiday 2011-2012 print campaign above plays on the traditional Cartier motifs. Below is a photograph of a Cartier advertisement circa 1950

Move over photo booth…bring on the pommel horse!

Can you spot the real KL?

We just wanted to share a little “behind the scenes” action at the shooting of the new Chanel Spring/Summer 2012 ready to wear campaign. Loving these images…this is what Karl Lagerfeld is all about! Phenomenal ★★★★

Our men’s fragrance debate – is Iggy the answer?

Iggy Pop as the new  face of Paco Rabanne Black XS L’Exces…and what a face it is!!!!

Just to add another layer to our men’s fragrance debate - Paco Rabanne have certainly taken a different track in marketing this scent. No buff male models or Hollywood Celebs are featured in this campaign.

What are your opinions on this decision by Paco Rabanne… Does Iggy Pop, as the face of a men’s fragrance, represent innovation or desperation?

Smell like a Man, Man… Is this one for the ladies?
